Your first event: a guide

Everything a new organiser needs, in the order you'll need it. About fifteen minutes from nothing to a page you can share.

  1. Make the event page

    • Open the start page and fill in the name, the date and time, the place and the price. You don't need an account until you publish.
    • Press Publish and sign in with Google, Facebook, Apple or your email. Your event opens with everything filled in.
    • Add a cover picture and a few words. Events are public on What's on unless you untick it; keep private ones, like a birthday, to people with the link.

  2. Decide how guests pay

    • Bank transfer: add your account number and you're ready. Each booking gets a reference like TX-3J43, and you confirm payments by pasting your bank statement on the Confirm transfers screen.
    • Cards and Apple Pay: connect Stripe in Getting paid. It takes about ten minutes; Stripe asks for ID and your bank account. The money goes straight to your own Stripe account.
    • For bank transfers and PayPal, save a card for our fee in Getting paid. Without one, transfers pause once $20 in fees is owed.
    • Free events need none of this.

  3. Set up tickets

    • One ticket type is enough. Add more for adults and children or VIP. Early-bird prices can end on a date or after a number of tickets, in up to three steps.
    • Set how many places there are. When they're gone, guests can join the waitlist and get the next free place.
    • If you need them: questions for guests (end a line with * to make it required, for example Team name *), add-ons such as parking or a meal, a group discount, and promo codes.

  4. Share it

    • Copy the link from the event's dashboard and post it. The dashboard also has a ready-made post, Facebook and WhatsApp buttons, and a promo kit with a poster, a story and a square post.
    • Add ?src=name to each link you post, for example ?src=fb-group, and the dashboard shows which post brought views and bookings.
    • Have your own website? Copy the events box or a Buy tickets button from your dashboard.
    My events →
  5. Before the night

    • Guests get their tickets by email, and a reminder the day before. For free events the reminder also asks whether they're still coming, and you see the answers.
    • If anything changes, message all your guests from the dashboard.
    • Helpers at the door: in the Crew card, make a door link for each helper. They need no account, and you can add a 4-digit code and turn the link off afterwards.
  6. At the door

    • Open Door on your phone, or the helper opens their door link. Scan the QR on each ticket or search by name; it keeps working without a signal.
    • Walk-ins: use Sell at the door for cash or your own card machine, or show the QR so they pay on their own phone.
    • Every tick and every sale shows who made it, so the cash box can be checked afterwards.
  7. After the event

    • The report shows who came, the money by payment method, door sales by person, and a CSV for your spreadsheet.
    • Refunds: card payments go back from the dashboard; for a bank transfer the guest gives an account and you send the money.
    • Running it again? Use Duplicate for next week, or Repeat weekly for a series.

Rather we set it up for you?

Send us your event: a link to where it's posted now, or a few words. We'll make the page, send it to you to check, and help with the first bookings. It's free.
